The Adult Education Centre “Volkshochschule Olching e.V.” (VHS) was founded in 1956. With over 60 years of experience in providing education for adult learners the non-profit association has achieved a high level of acceptance and recognition in Olching city and the whole region. The Center differs substantially from other educational institutions by its unusual engagement for the spreading of European values and its contribution to migrants´ integration as well as its efforts to fight against social inequalities.
Thanks to its long experience in teaching and in taking care of the education of different generations, of people from different countries and with different needs and expectation, the VHS disposes of adequate response to the challenges issued from changes in population structures, from the actual immigration waves and from the insecurity of the job market This long experience is a guarantee for the success of this project.
High quality according to EFQM rules and reliability, personal involvement and best qualified tutors are the characteristics of our institution.
Because of the diversity of our courses we are able to provide an appropriate respond to the expectations and to the needs of course participants and to react quickly to meet new challenges e.g. teaching language, literacy and numeracy to migrants and illiterates. During the last years we have been teaching German to mothers in our course “Mama lernt Deutsch” to support their taking part to social life in Olching and as help to find jobs. For young people we organize preparation courses for the secondary modern school qualification as well as courses for “Learning to learn”, etiquette, job interviews and to increase self-confidence.
For business and jobs we are also continuously adapting our programme to the changes of the work market. A main topic is actually “Cross-cultural skills improvement”.
Our institution offers a large range of different courses and workshops e.g. in art, philosophy, literature, health, IT, languages, social and political skills, courses for professional purposes, courses for house management and way of life and more. We carry through numerous courses for migrants and refugees from basic skills to profesional development.
This year about 200 tutors will conduct about 750 courses and workshops. Over 70 language courses in about 15 languages are contineously taught by our high-qualified tutors. Furthermore during the last years. selected teachers have been trained for the qualification of examiner for different languages from A1 to B1 EU – levels. Tutors and staff actually have the possibility to take part to mobilities within the Erasmus KA1 programme.
In our city and in the region the social impact of our association is extremely important as it reaches more than 40% of the local population (about 10,000 from 26,000 inhabitants in our city).
The VHS initiated the project and will insure the coordination as well as the internal evaluation and take part to all activities and mobilities.

Centro Provinciale per l’Istruzione degli Adulti – CPIA di Padova
Padova (IT)

CPIA (Provincial Centre for Adult Education) is a new public institution for adult schooling in Padua. It was founded in 2015 by the reorganization of the former local CTP (Life-Long Learning Territorial Centre).
The CPIA of Padua is made up of nine locations situated in the province of Padua and it also includes a special sector working in a state prison.
According to the legislation, the CPIA offers the following institutional courses for adults:
– Literacy and Italian language learning courses for foreign citizens;
– First Level course aimed at achieving the final qualification of the lower secondary education and the achievement of the certificate which attests the basic competence related to the compulsory education;
– Second level courses aimed at achieving the high school diploma (evening courses), organized by high schools that have a networking programme with the CPIA, thanks to the current legislation.
The CPIA also offers short courses for a long-term education with both internal and external teaching staff; the main purpose of these activities is the key life-long learning competence, particularly digital literacy courses and foreign languages, general cultural courses and citizenship are instituted.
In addition to that, CPIA carries out several research on adult education and, according to the European purposes, it undertakes the following guidelines:
a) analysis of the educational requirements countrywide;
b) focusing on the adults’ social and employment factors ;
c) paying attention to adults’ learning needs;
d) reception points and orientation courses;
e) improving the quality and effectiveness of the adult education.
CPIA is also a public institution that builds lifelong education programmes countrywide by networking (according to the art. 4, lawn. 92 of 28th June 2012); so CPIA collaborates with:
– local authorities;
– school institutions;
– regional vocational trainings;
– employment services;
– public undertaking for adult education;
– cultural facilities (such as local libraries, museums, theatres….);
– firms;
– associations ( charity institutions, cultural associations, non-profit organizations, leisure centres, families, voluntary organizations, etc….);
– universities.
The CPIA works with about sixty internal tenured teachers and 40 external teachers with a short-term contract.
During 2014/15 people enrolled in courses supplied by the CPIA locations were 5,361. They were divided into:
– Italian language courses for foreigners: 1,355;
– First level education courses: 255;
– Life long learning courses: 3,751.

Federación de Colectivos de Educación de Personas Adultas de Valladolid. FeCEAV
Valladolid (ES)

FeCEAV is a non-profit organization that understands education as every citizen’s right, and it has as its main objective the training of people for their social, personal and working development.
FeCEAV works in Valladolid city with over 2,300 participants each year and 27 workers including teachers and management staff. Since 1990 we have developed the Municipal Program for Adult Education, and since 2015 and for the next 4 years, the Municipal Program for Lifelong Learning.
FeCEAV operates in 8 working units with 94 groups distributed throughout the most important areas of the city and we work with social services and associative networks from the different areas in order to promote the integration of minorities, reintegration into the education system, multiculturalism and peaceful coexistence of residents from these neighborhoods. It works side by side with social services, residents and associations in the Civic Centers of the Municipality, organizing the municipal educational offer in three areas: area 1: Learning autonomy and inclusion. Area 2: Personal development, to the lifelong learning. Area 3: Socio-cultural and intergenerational active aging.
FeCEAV was awarded 2 times with the First National Literacy Prize ‘Miguel Hernández’, in 1996 for its Literacy labor and in 2007 for the work accomplished promoting the education of young people and adults.
Since 1990 FeCEAV has developed an extensive network of collaboration with other associations at local level, such as the Federation of Neighborhood Associations of Valladolid. At the regional level it is founding members of ACECEA – Asociación para la coordinación de educadores y colectivos de Castilla y León and collaborators of Arpea – Asociación Regional de Participantes de Educación de Personas Adultas de Castilla y león . At National level, it is founder and active participant of FAEA – Federación de Asociaciones de Educación de Personas Adultas- .
FeCEAV has developed 8 Grundtvig Learning Partnerships Projects with European partners from 2004 to 2014, with 290 students and teachers involved and 111 mobilities in 29 trips to different European countries. 3 of these projects have been highlighted as good practice by the Ministries of Education of Spain and had the recognition of Lifelong Learning Programme Quality from the OAPEE and the Ministry of Education in 2012.
Visualisation, Grundtvig Partnership, coordinated by Volkshochschule Olching e.V was one of our recognised Best Practices in 2012 and our first contact with German and Italian partners of BIC project.

GRETA DU VELAY LYCEE CHARLES ET ADRIEN DUPUY
Le Puy en Velay (FR)
The Greta du Velay is a public training organisation gathering 21 educational institutions such as secondary schools, high school and colleges under the wing of the Ministry of Education. Certified ISO 9001 since 1998, it exists since 1975. It employs 4 training advisers and 40 trainers. It delivers around 300000 training hours per year (welcoming between 2000-2500 learners). It is active in the Velay, a rural area in the South of the Auvergne Region.
Half of the activity consists in supporting small and medium companies in their learning processes : analysis of training needs, delivery of training, evaluation and follow up. Courses are provided in various areas in response to the local needs such as hospitality, industry (automation tools, maintenance…) and tertiary sectors (management, languages, computing…). The Greta has an important audiovisual department preparing each year around 50 learners to the diploma of high-level technicians for production and TV companies.
The other half consists in supporting social and vocational inclusion (unemployed, migrants, young adults, with cognitive disabilities…), development of key and core competences, preparation to exams and to competitions for employment in the public sector.
The Greta works closely to all non profit associations and public organisations working with young adults (such as Missions locales, social workers, Cultural centers, housing centers, information centers for youth and for women and families…).
It is member of the Greta network covering the whole French territory (191 Greta and 4350 training locations).
The Greta du Velay has a specific transversal department for managing innovative projects. This laboratory is dedicated to the improvement of learning and it works in close collaboration with all training departments of Greta du Velay. Since 1992, it has participated to several research projects in a European frame for education and training and for vocational integration. It has developed several resources that are still used by the community of professionals to improve social and vocational integration (printed or online). All are freely disseminated on the web site http://cri.velay.greta.fr.
